Nestled
in a narrow valley, this beautiful garden was built in honour
of Jai Singh's chief Vidyadhar Bhattacharjee-the architect
and town planner. Vidyadhar Garden, located near the Sisodia
Gardens is a beautiful vineyard, unfolding itself in the
valley. In the evening, well-shrouded lights at the base
of the surrounding hills outline them against the darkening
backdrop. Vidhyadhar Bhattacharjee designed the city of
Jaipur using the principles of town planning as laid down
in the Shilpa Shastra, an ancient Hindu treatise on architecture.
It is remarkable that his contribution has been generously
acknowledged. Jaipur was and stills remains the only city
in the world, symbolising the nine divisions of the universe,
through nine rectangular sectors sub-dividing it.
